The ethos of Matrix Safety and Compliance

Matrix Safety and Compliance was built to provide support and structure for your safety management requirements that is tailored to your business. No generic encyclopaedias of safety, folders full of detailed and never-read information here. Matrix focusses on practical documentation, training, processes and procedures to fit your team's needs, industry standards, customer needs and (in the rear-view mirror) Worksafe's minimum expectations.

The Team

A Dynamic Risk management advisor

Emma Blackburn

I started my career by completing degrees in Aerospace Engineering and Management. I then spent over 17 years in the Royal Navy as an Air Engineer Officer, specialising in aircraft operations at sea, my final role was in Helicopter Carrier HMS Ocean as Air Engineer Officer (safety oversight of operators and maintenance operations and quality manager for the aviation teams in the ship), where one of my last events was introducing HM the Queen to the aviation team. I conducted numerous investigations, including an aircraft accident, process and systems failures and I taught emergency response management.

A Dynamic Risk management advisor

In 2015 I moved to New Zealand and in 2016 I joined Safe Air (Now Airbus NZ Ltd) firstly as Bid Support Manager and then as the Safety and Quality Manager, where I was the Senior Person approved by multiple Civil Aviation Authorities to assure quality and safety of engineering maintenance, manufacturing and design management activity and output across 4 Airbus NZ sites (Including one in Australia). I revised and updated Quality Management System to comply with ISO 9001:2015. I managed occupational health and wellbeing and airworthiness safety through the application of Safety Management Systems (SMS).

I am HASANZ registered, a professional member of NZ Institute of Safety Management (NZISM) and an Exemplar Global Certified ISO45001 OHSMS Auditor. I am also a qualified and experienced lead auditor in quality systems (ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100). I am a UK Chartered (Professional) Engineer and member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET),
